A famous Italian proverb is, “Age and glasses of wine should never be counted.”
(Anni e bicchieri di vino non si contano mai)
To beat the high heat, we boarded a nice bus from Florence to Chianti at 8:45 a.m. We selected this great, small group tour to two outstanding wineries. We found this one on GetYourGuide.com, and it’s called,
“From Florence: Small Group Wine Tasting Tour to Tuscany”
Mr. Rafaelle was an energetic and very informative guide, and we made two lovely stops:
Casa Emma, a medium-sized winery, is 100% organic. We toured the winery with the winery’s guide, then sat down for bread and four glasses of different wines to taste.
Montecchio, another medium-sized winery, also harvests the sangiovese grape (Tuscany’s signature grape). Here we learned about Italian 100% Virgin Olive Oil, too. This winery served even more food than the first to complement its ever-flowing variety of wines.
A half day was plenty for us, and we can’t imagine the tours that bicycle from winery to winery. No way!
I think we did laundry and napped until dinner. I think. We think.
